Information on the operation of cookies – pursuant to art. 13 EU Regulation 679/2016
Below we transparently inform you about the operation of so-called cookies on this website (hereinafter “Site”) in compliance with Directive 2009/136/EC and the related decision of the Privacy Guarantor no.229/2014.
1. Definition of “cookie”
Cookies are small text fragments (letters and/or numbers) sent by the Site and stored by your browser on the specific device you use (computer, tablet, smartphone) and contain information to be reused during the same site visit or later, even after days. Cookies are stored according to the user’s preferences.
Moreover, with the introduction of HTML5, several forms of local storage and similar technologies are available, such as web beacons and transparent GIFs, which can be used to collect information about user behavior and choices and the use of services.
In this document, for simplicity, we will use the term “cookie” to refer to cookies and all similar technologies.
Cookies can typically be installed:
- directly by the owner and/or manager of the website (so-called first-party cookies);
- by third parties not related to the website visited by the user (so-called third-party cookies). Unless otherwise specified, it is reminded that these cookies fall under the direct and exclusive responsibility of the respective manager. Further information on privacy and their use can be found directly on the websites of the respective managers.
This website may use, also in combination, the following types of cookies classified according to the indications of the Privacy Guarantor and the Opinions issued at European level by the Article 29 Working Party of the GDPR:
- Session cookies: not stored persistently on the user’s computer and disappear when the browser is closed. Their use is strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers necessary to allow safe and efficient navigation on the site, avoiding the use of other technologies that could potentially compromise the confidentiality of user navigation.
- Persistent cookies: stored on the computer’s hard drive until their expiration or deletion by users/visitors. Persistent cookies allow visitors who access the site (or any other users using the same computer) to be automatically recognized on each visit. Visitors can set their browser to accept/reject all cookies or to display a warning whenever a cookie is proposed, to evaluate whether to accept it or not. Users can still change the default configuration and disable cookies (i.e., block them definitively) by setting the highest level of protection.
- Technical cookies: used for authentication, using multimedia content such as flash players or to allow the selection of the navigation language. In general, no prior and informed consent from the user is required. This category also includes cookies used to statistically analyze visits/accesses to the site only if used exclusively for statistical purposes and through aggregated data collection and Analytics cookies that do not allow unique identification (e.g., by masking the fourth component of the IP) limited only to traffic monitoring data (geographic area, time slot, pages visited), without comparison with other data that would effectively allow unique identification.
- Non-technical cookies: all cookies used for profiling and marketing purposes. Their use on users’ devices is prohibited if users have not been properly informed and have not given valid consent using the opt-in technique. These types of cookies are in turn grouped according to their functions into:
- Analytics: cookies used to collect and analyze statistical information on access/visits to the website. In some cases, when associated with other information such as login credentials to restricted areas (email address and password), they can be used to profile the user (personal habits, sites visited, downloaded content, types of interactions, etc.).
- Widgets: include all graphical interface components of a program intended to facilitate user interaction with the program itself. Examples include Facebook, Google+, and X cookies.
- Advertising: include cookies used to serve ads on a website. Google, Tradedoubler fall into this category.
- Web beacons: include code fragments that allow a website to transfer or collect information through the request for a graphic image. Websites can use them for various purposes, such as website usage analysis, monitoring and reporting of advertisements, and ad and content customization.
2. Technical Cookies and Social, Marketing, and Profiling Cookies
If you provide consent through one of the simplified methods described in the information displayed when you first access the site, it may install and/or allow third-party companies indicated below to install additional profiling cookies, for which you can choose to modify or revoke consent in whole or in part. Regarding so-called “social buttons,” we act as data controllers concerning the integration of these buttons on our website. If you decide to click the button, the subsequent activities are carried out by the social network provider, according to what is described in their privacy policy.
3. Cookie Management
Users can also decide whether to accept cookies using their browser settings.
Settings can be defined specifically for different sites and web applications. Furthermore, the best browsers allow different settings for “proprietary” and “third-party” cookies. Through the browser options menu in use, it is possible to manage and define whether to accept or reject the different types of cookies and to proceed with their removal.
Warning: total or partial disabling of technical cookies may compromise the use of features in areas of the site reserved for registered users. Conversely, public content is accessible even with cookies completely disabled. Disabling third-party cookies does not affect navigation in any way.
We also remind you that by completely disabling cookies in your browser, you may not be able to use all interactive features.

4. Data Disclosure and Sharing
The data collected through cookies may be processed only by specifically authorized personnel and by data processors. Furthermore, such data may be communicated to third parties, only if specifically designated as data processors, for the execution of certain tasks related to the existing relationships (e.g., consultants, service companies).
Data collected using proprietary cookies will not be disclosed or sold to third parties. Data collected using third-party cookies may be transferred outside the European Union, particularly to the United States of America.
5. Data Subject Rights
At any time, you may exercise your rights regarding the data controller, pursuant to Articles 15–22 of EU Regulation 679/2016 (GDPR), in particular the rights of access, rectification, integration, and, where permitted, data portability, as well as the right to obtain deletion, restriction, or objection to the processing of data for legitimate reasons. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority pursuant to Article 77 of EU Regulation 679/2016 (GDPR), by contacting the Data Controller or the DPO, if appointed, as indicated below:

To ensure the protection of the data subject’s personal information, we may need to request additional specific information to confirm the identity of the person making the request and thus ensure the right to access the information (or exercise any of the other rights) only to those who have the right to receive such communications. This is another appropriate security measure to protect personal data.
The request to access personal information (or to exercise any of the rights listed above) is free of charge. However, if the request is clearly unfounded or excessive, we may charge a reasonable fee considering the administrative costs incurred to provide the information or refuse to comply with the request in such circumstances.
